Piepoli suspended
Leonardo Piepoli, who spent three stages of the 2005 Tour de France as Lanterne Rouge, has been suspended for excessive levels of an asthma medication during the 2007 Giro d'Italia. He was the winning rider in the mountains division of that race while riding for Saunier Duval-Prodir. He was not scheduled to ride in the Tour de France. However, elevated levels of the same drug were also seen in top sprinter Alessandro Petacchi, which takes him off the Tour roster for Milram and earns a suspension for him as well.
