Al Trautwig blows
Why does Versus put someone on the air that clearly despises the sport of professional cycling, and takes every opportunity to insult it?

I'm just wondering. . . .

I don't know about his personal opinion on cycling but do agree that he pretty much stinks as a bike race announcer. I tend to avoid the evening repeats so I don't have to listen to him and Bob Roll call the action.
Of course anyone would sound bad when compared to Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin.

One of my unfavorite Al statements during this tour was his wish stated the morning after the Chicken was dismissed. While making predictions about that day's results, Al made no effort to hide his suspicion that Contador is not clean. He said he predicted/wished that the peloton in its "wisdom like a big computer" would elevate Evans to the yellow jersey by the end of the day.
Next was Phil's turn to speak. His first comment, "Now, turning to logic..."

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, Al is one of the few guys on TV that can make me want to throw things at the screen. . . .
Argh the tour is over and now I learn that I could have listened to different broadcasters if I had taped the mornings instead of the 'enhanced' coverage. My only conclusion is that Al is part of an elaborate plan to keep Americans watching other sports. And he kept making baseball analogies. Painful painful painful.
